In 1927 the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Halifax operated a small hospital out of a former home in Westlock. This hospital was located where the Westlock Provincial Courthouse now stands. In 1928 the new Immaculata Hospital was opened across the street. The Immaculata was in operation until 1995 when it was replaced by the Westlock Health Care Centre. In 1997 the old hospital was demolished and the site was revitalized by a thriving new grocery store.
