Geocache Description:

Welcome to the McDowell Mountain Regional Park (MMRP) Powertrail!

Situated in the one of the most beautiful parts of the Sonoran desert, the MMRP Powertrail has been developed with the goal of getting more people out to enjoy the Park. All caches have been placed within a few steps of the trail to minimize disruption to the natural beauty, flora and fauna of the Park.

Unless you are an expert mountain biker, the 4.2 mile Scenic loop is best hiked. Parking is recommended at 33 41.446 111 43.109 but can be had at several locations in the Park.

The Park Supervisor has graciously given permission for this Powertrail. Please do not place any other caches in the Park without his express consent. Describe your experience at the Park in your log for 001 MMRP which will be monitored by Park staff. For the remaining cache logs, cut 'n paste is fine.

Cautions:
1. Carry plenty of water, especially in summer
2. Do not overextend yourself - the Park averages one rescue every 3 weeks
3. Watch for rattlesnakes, scorpions, thorns, and other natural hazards while in the Park

About MMRP:
Nestled in the lower Verde River basin, the 21,099-acre park is a desert jewel in the northeast Valley. Elevations in the park rise to 3,000 feet along the western boundary at the base of the McDowell Mountains. Visitors can enjoy a full program schedule, over 50 miles of multiuse trails, and spectacular views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Hiking, mountain biking, birding, horseback riding, picnicking, stargazing events, camping, wildlife education, and much more can be enjoyed at MMRP.

The Park is open 365 days a year. Sunday-Thursday 6am-10pm; Friday-Saturday 6am-10pm. The Visitor center is open daily from 8am-4pm. The Park has a $7 admission fee. For more information about the Park, see http://www.maricopa.gov/parks/mcdowell/
