Along Peggy E. Park Trail in John Chesnut, Sr. Park, in Palm Harbor.
Parking Coords: N28 05.070 W082 42.099
This is a Letterbox Hybrid,**IT IS NOT AT POSTED COORDINATES!**It uses the coordinates to get to the beginning of the clue, then written clues. 2 log books, one for Geocachers, and one for Letterboxers. You can sign the geocache log, and stamp the letterbox log, if you wish. Letterbox can be logged at Atlasquest.com. Please read description!!!
***CACHE IS NOT AT POSTED COORDINATES. FROM THESE COORDS YOU WILL FOLLOW WRITTEN CLUES. THIS IS AN ACTIVE LETTERBOX. PLEASE BRING GREEN INK PAD AND PAPER, do not take stamp!***
When you reach the coords...here's what you do:
You will see some words....
If the 4th letter is an "i" go to the first bench (on dirt trail, not boardwalk) on creekside.
If it is a "t" go to the 2nd bench.
Look for a palm tree with a faint heart carved in it, in middle of trail. Carving at about eye level. Standing about 4 feet away from the tree in the direction you came, face away from the bench and walk about 8 steps into the woods. Turn West and walk 9 steps, look for a slanted trunk maple tree with a vine on it's trunk and you will reach "the Keeper", which is under a palm frond. Please recover with palm frond!!!
Since this is a letterbox/geocache hybrid, I do not suggest trading trackables, as it will be shared with letterboxers, who may not be familiar with them.
DO NOT TRADE THE STAMP IN THE LETTERBOX.
Letterboxing is a game similar to geocaching, but using clues instead of a GPS. Letterboxers stamp their own special stamp (often hand made) into the letterboxes they find, and collect the stamped images of the letterboxes they find. So the "prize" is the stamped images, some of which are quite artistic! Mine are all hand carved by myself, I hope you enjoy them.
If you liked this Letterbox hybrid, be sure to look for the other letterboxes in the park. (not part of geocaches) This hybrid cache is part of a Letterbox series called Wildlife of Chesnut Park. They are listed at Atlasquest.com. (visit link)
Special thanks to Peggy E. Park, a Wildlife Officer who was killed in the line of duty protecting wildlife of Pinellas County, FL in 1984. She was only 26 years old.
