Geocache Description:

This is one in a series of puzzle caches, all based on the same concept. PLEASE read Get On The Grid first for details on how these puzzles work.

The cache is not located at the posted coordinates.

Use the coordinates from the waypoint listed below (NOT those listed for the cache) as a starting point for solving the puzzle.

Here's another to keep the "On The Grid" series going. This one will test your ability to fit a round peg in a square hole; or actually to find a round object in a square grid. As usual, the cells you discover must be placed in the correct order to determine the a.bcd values to add to the origin point.

Below are images, captured from Google Earth, of six objects or geographic features that are in the shape of a circle. All of these locations can be found within the area shown on this grid. The grid lines correspond to minutes of latitude and longitude. Your task is to find the grid cell in which each of the objects is located, based on the location of the CENTER of the circle. You may find it helpful to print out the grid, note the lat and long values for each row and column, and mark the cells where you locate the circles. It is important to note that although the images of the circles all look the same size here, the actual sizes vary widely. To give you a little help, the approximate diameter of each circle is indicated.

Done with that already? All right! Now to identify the four solution cells out of the six, and order them correctly, do the following:

  • For each of the six cells, add its row and column numbers together. If any of them result in a two-digit number, add THOSE two digits together to get to six one-digit numbers.
  • Sort those six numbers, and their corresponding r,c values in numeric order of the single digits.
  • Take the middle four cells in this order (discarding the first and the last). These are your solution cells to use, based on details provided in "Get On The Grid".

Have fun! And I hope this puzzle doesn't have you running in circles!

Oh, and in case these circles just turn out to be TOO hard to find (not likely, with all you clever cachers out there!), I will add some hints to narrow the areas to search, after either FTF or 48 hours, whichever comes first...Okay, I promised some hints after FTF. But... seems like this was SO EASY for some folks, I hate to ease up for the rest of you. So I lied about hints! So sue me! As always, I'm glad to give help as requested.

And finally (and VERY importantly), when you get to GZ (which I'm sure you will): The terrain rating IS correct, but you will have to expand your search by 15-20 feet (hard to find puzzle hide spots that are right on!). Just look for something white...

Prize for FTF: A Sacagawea Dollar.

Congrats to the Terrific Trio of Beege49, crosspa, and Team Pluto for FTF! (I hope you didn't fight over the dollar!)
