Geocache Description:

This little ramble will take you around the perimeter of the Jam Butty Estate in Haslingden taking in spectacular views across the Rossendale Valley and beyond- weather permitting! The area is very popular with local dog walkers so beware of muggles!

Jam Butty Ramble #1 – Bobby Dazzler

Set on a hillside, Haslingden (or Hazzy to the locals) is a thriving town. Improved motorway access in the latter 20th century called for more housing developments, including what is known locally as the "Jam Butty Estate" (once you´d moved into one of these posh houses, you lived on jam sandwiches for a good while afterwards!), situated above the town.! We’ve been geocaching for some time now and having found over 600 we thought it was time to put out some of our own. Hope you enjoy our first little series.
From here you get a great view of Peel Tower. The Peel Tower stands 128 feet high on Holcombe Hill. It was erected in 1852 as a memorial to former Prime Minister and founder of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Robert Peel. Parking is available on Laneside Road and a public footpath will lead you up to the first cache on the ramble.
