Geocache Description:

This cache will lead you to a fishpond near the village of Dobarsko in Southern Rila Mountain

The village of Dobarsko is famous for its Medieval church built back in 1614 and painted in 1672. The church is noted for its abundance of original frescoes and icons, some of which are interpreted as portraying Jesus in a rocket. The holy spring in the church yard is said to be curative and indeed the one that cured Samuil 's soldiers that founded the village, as depicted in one fresco. A small swastika and a cross on the eastern wall are the only items in the exterior that show that the small stone building is a religious temple. The frescoes were cleaned up and partially restored in 1974-1978 and the church is a national monument of culture, as well as one of the 100 national tourist attractions.

A short and pleasant 2 km walk just above this picturesque village in the southern slopes of the Rila mountain will lead you to a small fishpond owned by a couple of friendly local folks. This is the place where you can enjoy the most delicious and fresh trout meal that you can ever imagine, in the surroundings of the marvelous nature of Rila . If you take a short walk up the road to a small meadow, you can enjoy a magnificent view to both Pirin and The Rodopes .

I went to this place by accident with my wife and my little baby girl and we were really touched by the friendly and warm welcome of the owners. We didn 't planned to hide a cache there but since we were so impressed with these good people we have decided to somehow thank them for their hospitality by trying to attract more visitors to their fishpond which is worth visiting anyways. So, here is the cache, hidden in a jar.

The cache is hidden in the yard of the fishpond, just next to one of the two wooden bridges there. The place is accessible all year round, preferably at daytime since the cache hidden on a private property. The owners know about the game and would welcome anyone who wants to find the cache.
