Back2Nature #3 - Just In Timber (Lake) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

jayjaybee8: It pains us to do it, as the name worked so well, but it's been fraught with problems, and off the main line of the series, so we're going to rest this one

Geocache Description:

Small camouflaged tube container, containing log - bring your own pen(cil)

Just off a well used, but unsurfaced, track.

A replacement for the archived "Lake", hopefully in a more secure area of the lakeside

Part of a series highlighting the return of a large industrial landscape to nature.
The series shows various features which were prominently industrial in the 19th and 20th Centuries, but have now had 20+ years to return to a variegated natural state, with help from additional planting.

From the 19th to the mid-20th centuries, this area had its fair share of coal mining. Most of the land between West Hallam village and Ilkeston, together with much of what is now the Hallam Way estate, was opencast mined in the middle of the 20th Century.

Enjoy the view of this secluded lake, especially in fine weather. Note that it is popular with fishermen, so ensure you aren't surprised by someone popping up from behind a bush!

As always, please ensure the safety of your children with the nearby water.

**** Congratulations to plantsman on FTF, reliving his childhood! ****
