11-11-11 is a fun date in HazelBell’s numbers caches. It joins 10-10-10 from last year and 12-12-12 that may come next year. But November 11th is a much more than an interesting combination of numbers.
At 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918, "the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month," a cease-fire came into effect that would end World War I. For this reason, the date is generally regarded as the end of "the war to end all wars."
Veterans Day 2011 calls on Americans to recognize the enormous sacrifices made by our newest generation of veterans and to honor the service of all of our veterans in our communities and across the nation.
The holiday is commonly printed as Veteran's Day or Veterans' Day. While these spellings are grammatically acceptable, the United States government has declared that Veterans Day rather than Veteran’s Day is the official spelling.
Cache is located near a monument that was placed “In remembrance of the men and women of Roseville who have served in the military to protect the freedom of our country.”
