This cache is placed about 200 metres along the Hereford trail towards Turnastone and is in a small black tub with room for a few swaps
This is another in the series of caches that we are hoping to add more to as time allows. They will be placed around rural Herefordshire to introduce you to some of the delightful village churches. If you already live in the area you will no doubt know of some, if not all of these locations. The churches will either be in a lovely location or have an unusual or interesting fact to warrant a cache. The actual caches will not be in the church grounds but placed a short distance away
St Margarets Church
This is a very attractive small church standing 800 ft above sea level. It is of Norman origin and has a wonderful oak rood screen dating from c1520 that is a rare survivor of the post reformation order of 1547. There are many other interesting features in the church including many wall texts, and outside there is a bench which provides a restful place to spend a while.
The views that can be seen on a clear day are the hills of
Dinador, Aconbury and Garway with the Black Mountains to the west .
This church is a bit off the beaten track along narrow hilly lanes but well worth the effort of a visit. There is parking available in the churchyard itself but if you feel like walking we have placed caches along part of the Hereford trail linking St Margarets with Vowchurch and Turnastone to the North and Bacton to the South.
To Turnastone : GC372B9, GC372B4, GC372AT, GC372AA.
To Bacton : GC372BE, GC372BQ, GC372C7, GC372CP, GC372D3
The footpath to Bacton starts just down the road from the church and along the track on the left
