Geocache Description:

This is one of several caches to be placed around the Tillingham area and designed to take you on a walk around the village if you choose to visit them all.

The end of the 15th century and the 16th century saw changes to Tillingham as serious attempts began to reclaim the marshes. Over 300 years about 900 acres were reclaimed, much of which is still used for farming today.

The village is crisscrossed with public footpaths and narrow roads, some more well used than others, and as such is a popular place with hikers and dog walkers. You can choose any and many variation on a route to get between the various caches so the route you choose to get here is entirely up to you. Please stick to the footpaths, they are well signposted. If cycling here please use Marsh Road.

Although, for this cache, you can drive to the location, we would encourage you to park up and have a wander around the village and perhaps even find another cache or two on your way. If you do choose to drive be aware that the road is a narrow no through road and there are limited places where you could turn around. Please DO NOT turn around at the farm at the end and be aware that this is a farmwatch area.

The cache location is wheelchair accessible although assistance will be required to retrieve the cache itself. Wheelchairs and buggy users should approach the site by following Marsh Road to the cache site. Please take care and be aware that Marsh Road is a narrow country road with no pavements.

Free parking is available in the village at the West Field car park or in Vicarage Lane.

Please NOTE that mobile phone coverage can be patchy in Tillingham and some networks have no coverage in the village at all.
