Während seiner ersten Italienreise machte Albrecht Dürer Halt in Klausen und malte an dieser Stelle ein Aquarell mit dem Bild der Stadt. Diese Ansicht verwendete der Künstler einige Jahre später als Hintergrund für seinen Kupferstich "Nemesis - Das große Glück".
Durch die Drucktechnik bedingt ist Klausen darauf im Spiegelbild dargestellt.
Die Jahreszahl 1504 am Dürerstein in Klausen ist nicht authentisch. Richtig wäre 1494 oder 1495 (Hin- bzw. Rückreise Dürers). Als Erinnerung an den Besuch des großen Künstlers wurde dieser Gedenkstein aus blaugrauem Diorit errichtet und am 18. August 1912 feierlich eingeweiht.

Der Gedenkstein ist zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Ab Andreasbrücke benützt man den Fußweg nach Lajen (rot-weiß markiert , Weg Nr.5).

Albrecht Dürer è considerato uno dei più significativi fra i pittori e grafici tedeschi.
Lungo il suo primo viaggio in Italia, egli sostò anche a Chiusa. In tale occasione dipinse un acquerello che riporta la cittadina e i suoi dintorni. Qualche tempo dopo nel suo atelier di Norimberga utilizzò proprio questo paesaggio come sfondo per la sua opera "Nemesis - La Grande Fortuna". Dato il sistema della riproduzione grafica risulta un'immagine speculare, cioè invertita, della località.
Questo monumento riporta l'anno 1504 che però è da considerarsi non esatto, poiché probabilmente dovrebbe risultare il 1494 oppure il 1495, periodo del viaggio di andata (o ritorno) di Dürer in Italia.

Il monumento è a pocchi passi dal centro di chiusa. Attraversate il ponte Andreas e da lí proseguite sul sentiero N°5 verso Lajen.

Albrecht Dürer is one of the most important German painters and graphic artists. On his first trip to Italy he stopped in Klausen. At exactly this place he painted a watercolour of Klausen. Some years later the artist used this same view as the backdrop for his copper-plate engraving "Nemesis - The Great Joy". Due to intaglio printing technique Klausen is shown in reverse in the engraving.
The year 1504 written on the "Dürerstein" is incorrect. The years of Dürer's trips through Klausen would make the correct date either 1494 or 1495.

The monument is not far away from the downtown. Cross the Andreas bridge and follow the hiking trail N°5 to Lajen within some minutes you will reach this place with a scenic view of Klausen.
