Geocache Description:

To the Wichita Eagle which was founded in 1872. Their is a monument to the newspaper at this site and I thought I would honor the newspaper. The above coordinates are at the fountain Use your compass to find the geocache at coordinates N 37 41.503 W 097 20.289

Very busy corner at some times but the cache can be very hard to retreive. The monument is an old water fountain, and has been around since 1922.

I have been reading the History of Wichita by Graig Miner and the Wichita Eagle has been quite a few places in the city. This place is supposed to be the first place that the Wichita Eagle was located other places include at Main and Douglas, and William and Market streets, where it was when I was a youngster in the 1940's. And it rival the Beacon was around the corner on Main and William. Both newspapers started in 1872 and of course the Beacon was bought by the Eagle sometime in the 1960's or 1970's.
