Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

Second cache explaining the aids that Marine pilots use to navigate the worlds largest coal export port.

At GZ you will find a tower with a large orange triangle on it.
This is another navigation aid used by the marine pilots. When viewed from the bridge of a ship coming out of the "Basin" area of the port ( where the grain terminal is) the nav aid matches up with another triangle. One is pointy end up and its pair is pointy end down. When lined up so that the two triangles are viewed to be touching point to point, the ship is exactly on the lead it needs to be to leave the basin and enter the main channel out of the port.
Take a seat and look around the port and you will see a range of navigation aids. Vertical orange stripes on the main leads, red and green bouys to mark the channel, and sector lights to guide the pilots up to the coal terminals. Newcastle is a narrow river port which handles some of the largest ships in the world all due to the skill of our marine pilots and the use of navigational aids like the one you are sitting under. Currently the worlds largest coal export port, Newcastle will almost triple in volume over the next 10 years. As it does the skill of our pilots will be put to the test daily.
