Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates will take you to the parking lot where you may begin your journey. This cache was created to honor my favorite place to hike. I have been hiking and enjoying this area since I was a small child. I call this cache "Twilight's Walk", as I have spent many hours and days here exploring and pondering life's many obstacles. Twilight can often be seen hiking this area. You will know her by the mark of the blue dragon on her back.

Side note! I edited the coordinates on 12/5/11 to make them more compatible so that iphone and ipad users can also search for this cache. All of the places are the same, i just translated the coordinates and altered the equations accordingly. Happy caching!

This is set as a multi-location cache in order for the seeker to hike along my exact favorite path. Along the way, I use pre-existing graffiti and carvings to calculate the next set of coordinates. I do not condone, nor did I have any part in these minor vandalisms, but they are essential to following this correct path and ultimately finding this cache. Many of the coordinates are not exact, but you will surely know what to look for when you get close to the right place. By following my coordinates, you will probably find areas and trails that you never knew existed before in this area. This being said, I highly recommend that you wear long pants and carry water with you. This hike is relatively strenuous at certain points..you will get a good work out. It should take the average visitor just over 2 hours to complete, depending on your speed and your ability to find my clues, as well as which exit path that you choose from the area. There is one specific clue that could be more difficult to see for those that do not have the best eyesight, thus you may need binoculars…although i believe that most will not. You will need a calculator to do the mathematical equations.

In order to decipher some of my clues, you will need to use an alphabet system, meaning A=1, B=2, C=3…and so on.

Park at the Wilacre parking lot in Studio City at the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Fryman. Parking is now $3.00, but sometimes if you are lucky you can find parking on Laurel Canyon just before Fryman. Either way, observe posted signs and be careful exiting the car if you park on the street. You can then begin your ascent up the mountain on the normal marked path. Please bring a pen with you as always. You are looking for a small tupperware container that is camouflaged to match the surroundings. Be careful once you have found it, there is a garden spike holding it in place. Please be gentle when removing and replacing the cache.

I left a two Euro coin for the FTF, as well as first dibs on the loot inside.

Congratulations to tozainamboku for FTF!!

Starting Point: "The Dream Cliffs"
Set your starting coordinates for N 34° 08.013' W 118° 23.610'
At this point, you should see an unmarked trail on your left that continues upward. Take this left turn, and if you stay to the left, you will see the "dream cliffs", which I have had recurring dreams about for many years. From here, stay to the left when the road forks in order to continue to the next waypoint.

Waypoint 2: "The God Tree"
Set your coordinates for N N 34° 07.990' W 118° 24.024'
Locals and tourists alike have claimed to have felt strong energy vibrations emanating from this tree. You will know when you come to the correct tree, as it is completely covered with carvings and has long, flowing branches.
In order to get the next coordinates, examine the tree carving and find a carving that appears to read:

DI70 + A.W. 5-9-XX

take the last two numbers from the date,
XX x 6 - 269 = XXX

Waypoint 3: bench plaque
Set your coordinates for N 34° 07.837' W 118° 24.XXX'
Here you will find a bench commemorating Ida and Bernard Cipes.
In order to get the next coordinates, use the four digit date on the plaque:

XXXX - 1200 + 33 = XXX

Waypoint 4: Rainforest Path
Set your coordinates for N 34° 07.715' W 118° 23.XXX'
On the sign in front of you, you will see a ten digit telephone number. Use the last four digits for the next formula. Then, follow the stairway to heaven to get to the next waypoint.

XXXX - 6401 = XXX

Waypoint 5: Boulder Clearing
Set your coordinates for N 34° 07.480' W 118° 23.XXX'
Roughly at this point, to your far left you will come to a clearing with a large boulder in the center of it. As you hike forward, look for the white circle with 3 characters towards to bottom of the large rock. You will see three characters: J ? Z

Using the middle letter for the next formula:

? x 56 - 69 = XXX

Waypoint 6: The Rainforest (Cache Coordinates)
N 34° 07.377' W 118° 23.XXX'
Be very careful at the ground zero coordinates. You will probably have to do some minor bushwhacking, tree hopping, and tip toeing creekside. Look out for spiderwebs! If you look closely, you can find some wind chimes that Twilight placed nearby to remind her that inspiration can come from even the loneliest of places.

At this point, your Geo-sense should kick in and you can locate the camouflaged container. The container will be filled with my own personal items, particularly jewelry, which you may trade for keep or give to someone else. These items are from my collection, and carry a little of my own special "voodoo" along with them.

After finding the cache and signing the log, carefully return the cache to it's place and retreat back down the path you came, until you get back down to the residential street called "Iredell". At this point you can hang a right and continue east down to Fryman, make a left and that street will take you right back down to where your car is parked.

The more agile can choose to take the adventurous way out, which will save you backtracking for about 30 minutes, but it is significantly more dangerous. I do not recommend it, unless you have had some minor rock climbing and gate hopping experience. By taking this way, you will end up on the street "Valleycrest", which you will follow east and make a left on Fryman, which will also ultimately take you back to the parking area. You can find the coordinates to this special exit within the cache itself.
