Geocache Description:

Camo'd can

Comanche Gap is the 'break' in the Devil's Backbone about 1 1/2 miles west of this cache. This is the gateway where the Comanche bands are known to have entered the Galisteo Basin on their raids of the pueblos to the north.

Also, Comanche Gap is where the New Mexico Central Railway system had its route crossing the backbone. Their route ran from Kennedy, near Galisteo, southeasterly through Stanley to Torrance, which is southeast of Willard. If you look closely, there is a caboose parked just off the railroad grade at Comanche Gap.
