Geocache Description:

My buddy, Takin it Easy and I were out exploring the other day and found ourselves walking along a very nice ridge, high above Sibbald Pond. This ridge is bound by intermittent low cliffs on its’ west flank, all of which offer great views on clear days. We thought that this place could use a few caches, so I returned today and did just that, placing a cache at each end of the ridge, the other one is Cliffside No. 2 (GC37YRM).

Takin it Easy on the Cliffside!

FIRST A WARNING, if you don’t enjoy going up very steep trail-less hills this is not the cache for you! However, if you should decide to accept this mission the indicated route (pioneered by TiE) is relatively free of deadfall and often passes though very pretty open forest. Also, it is short term pain as I got to Cliffside No. 1 in about 40 minutes, even moving slow with what seemed, a heavy pack (two well packed ammo cans + winter, what if, gear). Let’s see, I think that RedRouge can probably do it in maybe 22 minutes . The one way distance to Cliffside No. 1 is 1.2 kms with an elevation gain of about 260 meters.

Park at the Sibbald Pond PRA, walk around the north side of the pond to R1 and up you go! (see map).

Route Map

The cache is a LnS inside an ammo can. It has some swag, finder’s cards and the first 6 ridge climbers get to choose a package of BVPete geocaching related note cards (that is, if you what such things).
