Geocache Description:

Churston Ferrers is a historic civil parish within Torbay and occupies a narrow neck of land between the South shore of Torbay and the Dart estuary, it is also mentioned in the Doomsday book and it contains the two villages of Churston and the now larger Galmpton.

This stretch of green-belt used to be a field that was below the level of the nearby main road (A3022). When the adjacent Brokenbury Waste Water Treatment Works were built, all the ground soil was dumped here to allow the works to be sunken and tucked away out of sight, thus creating this park with the addition of new tree planting.

Brokenbury provides full biological sewage treatment and ultra violet disinfection for the whole of Torbay. Brokenbury is a state-of-the-art treatment works that treats 10 million gallons of effluent a day and has vastly improved bathing water quality by removing the need for crude sewage outfalls within the area.

Could you please bring your own pen and resist the urge to post any photos.
