A walk through Luggiebank glen, Cumbernauld. Postcode G67 4.
Luggiebank glen is situated south of Cumbernauld and is a nature reserve managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. If you are familiar with Cumbernauld, you might not think of it as being the most beautiful part of the world, but it is surrounded by several green spaces, and has a rich diversity of wildlife and flora. It is also the focus of wildlife photographer and conservationist Katrina Martin as part of the 2020Vision project (www.2020v.org), which aims to highlight the link between “healthy nature and healthy people”.

Park at N 55° 56.090 W 3° 59.550 (Greenfaulds train station). Walk NE along Lenziemill Road until you get to N 55° 56.120 W 3° 59.343 where there is a path to the right leading into Luggiebank glen. Follow the path SW until you have passed under the road bridge. At N 55° 56.825 W 3° 59.914 or thereabouts, turn right and climb the banking up to the road. Please be VERY careful from here on, as this is a fast, busy road! Walk along the side of the road, away from the roundabout, to cross the bridge, then at N 55° 56.820 W 3° 59.844, just before the road sign, turn right, cross the barrier and push through the undergrowth. Eh? You wanted something easier? Aye, nae danger!
