Suburb to sea : Ngauranga (Wellington) Traditional Cache

This cache is located on the alternative track/route from Newlands to Ngauranga. This track is a gravel track that climbs to 160m above sea level (at Newlands end) from approx. sea level (at Ngauranga) at a grade of 10%

To get to the track, take the shared driveway of 23 Wakely street which then turns into the gravel track.

The track is about 1.5km long

Ngauranga is a small industrial 'suburb' that has been physically modified over the years. What was once a Maori settlement, with a lagoon and thick forest, is now an industrial strip of land. The near by abattoir is a reminder of this industrialization.

Ngauranga is also a major hub for transport of the Wellington region. The Main trunk line passes through here as well as SH1 and SH2.

This cache is a 400ml sistema that is camouflaged.
