1st in our mini series to celebrate 200 caches since beginning in July this year. This cache is placed with the kind permission of North East Lincolnshire Council who want to encourage families to explore their local natural spaces. This is an area in Cleethorpes which many people from further afield may not know about but should as it is a beautiful place and great for families and geo mutts. This is a film canister cache containing log only - please bring your own pen. Enjoy!!!
Originally open farmland, Cleethorpes Country Park was formed in 1988 when the 7-acre lake was dug out and the first trees were planted. Since then the council has continued to develop the 160 acre park. In 2008 the park became North East Lincolnshire's third Local Nature Reserve. In 2011/12 Cleethorpes Country Park was awarded the Green Flag Award, putting the park amongst the best in the country. The Green Flag award is the national recognition of a good quality park with particular focus on the quality of its management and operations. In the heart of suburbia you will be able to see all sorts of wildlife. Don't forget bread for the swans, coots and ducks. There is even a resident great crested grebe.
