C2 Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

CorvettePete: The sign which was the main feature of this cache has been replaced with a boring one. That, together with concerns expressed about the safety of the location, has caused me to decide to archive this cache. I will try to get the next in the series out before too long.

Geocache Description:

A quick drive-by cache that would be fun to find in a Corvette. Take time to check out the nearby sign - it is one of the highlights of the drive to Sydney.

This is the second in a series of geocaches celebrating the Chevrolet Corvette.
The Corvette is a convertible, 2 seat sports car produced by Chevrolet in the US. All cars are built as left hand drive but numerous ones have been imported into Australia and converted to RHD.
Corvettes have been released in 6 series (or generations) so far named C1, C2 etc. I will place one cache for each series.
The C2 series ran from 1963 to 1967. The 1963 model is famous for the split rear window. One story on why it was removed for later years was that you couldn’t see the Highway Patrol coming up behind you on their motor bikes.
There is a photo of a C2 in the photos on this page. If you are after more photos of Corvettes, check out the website for the local Corvette car club at www.corvettesofcanberra.org.au . It you want to see them in the flesh (or should that be fibreglass?), come along to one of the general car shows in Canberra. There are usually some geocaches nearby that you can pick up at the same time.
