Geocache Description:

Built and opened in 1983, the Agricultural and Ethnographic Museum is located in Ribeira Chã, being one of the most emblematic places of this small parish. Since 1992, this museum has undergone several modifications and its assets have considerably increased. At the Agricultural Museum, built and opened during the year of 1983 stands out the tools associated to the Culture of Pastel that during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries was a major source of wealth of the Azores. It was cultivated here in large scale, and the dust resulting from the proper handling, exported to Flanders and England. In the ethnographic museum, there are stalls of arts and traditional crafts, with emphasis on the tavern, shoe store, grocery store, barber shop, agricultural tools and stalls of antique toys. Near the Agricultural Museum, stands the Wine Museum, which makes known the utensils used in the preparation and maintenance of this product. The third "museum", included in the Ethnographic Yard, is the "House of the Nativity," where one can see many nativity scenes built in different materials by craftsmen of the parish.
