Signal Series II #47 Wherigo Cache

This cache has been archived.

AddHam: beancrew has found and picked up SSII caches #14-23, 28-30, 33, 35, 38, and 45-58. There are only 13 left and they will probably be gone Wednesday night (4/23). This series was meant to be archived after last summer but time just didn't allow for it. Unfortunately, maintenance and a desire to clear up the area for other caches weighed more on my mind than keeping this series going. Thanks to all who found them and sorry to all those that wished to yet. Hopefully, someone will put some awesome new geoart in its place. There's plenty of room out there...hint hint [:)]

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Signal Series!
This series of caches is directly based on the first Signal Series that was located just northwest of Lafayette, IN.

The Back Story
Back when we were somewhat new to geocaching I came up with the idea to write something in the landscape with geocaches. (little did I know the idea had probably been done before) I thought writing my name would be a tad bit selfish and decided to do something that would appeal to all cachers. Signal the Frog. They were all traditional caches where I was able to place them and those that landed on private property were unknown caches with a simple math puzzle to determine the coordinates. The original series included 42 geocaches and, with a little prepwork, they could all be found in one day. Big numbers back then...especially for the area! Unfortunately, we had to move and no one was willing to adopt the entire series so it was time to end it after a good run.

The Second Series
I've always missed having the original series. It was a big hit and seemed to draw people from all around. And when we heard that some people around here even drove down for it, we knew it was time for a comeback.

It wasn't easy finding a large area that was devoid of caches in Western Michigan but you'll find that the series covers approximately 30 sqaure miles between Caledonia and Wayland, MI. It also covers 3 counties.

I also knew that if I were to bring the series back, I'd have to go bigger and better. In SSII, you'll get 59 caches (including the kickoff meet and greet). Again, with some preparation beforehand, you'll be able to hit all caches in one day. And, this time you'll get 6 cache types as well!

This Cache

To find the actual location of the container - you must play and complete the "Signal Series #47: Signal Quiz" Cartridge.

Once you complete the cartridge you will be provided the necessary information to find the actual geocache container and to sign the logbook.

What is a Wherigo Geocache?
Wherigo is a new way of utilizing GPS technology to play games, take tours, and yes...geocache. Visit Wherigo.com to learn more about this software.

Do I need special equipment?
Yes! To find this cache the proper way and to truly experience the hunt the way it was meant to be experienced, you will need two things

1. The Wherigo Player on Wherigo compatible Hardware.
2. The "Signal Series #47: Signal Quiz" cartridge.

The Wherigo Player comes pre installed on the Garmin Colorado & Oregon series GPSr units.

A version of the player is available for download for use by GPS enabled Pocket PC devices or certain smart phones.
Click "Download Player" to get the PPC version.

Once you have the Player ready to go, you will need to download the cartridge for this cache.
Click "Download Cartridge" to get it.

The Setting:
The Cartridge is "Play Anywhere" so you may play it before making your run anywhere you wish. On the road during the rest of the Signal Series II caches or at home before you set out.

The Experience:
This Wherigo will test your knowledge of everyone's favorite mascot, Signal the Frog. All the information can be found on the Geocaching.com website. You just have to find the right answers, unless you know them already. So go ahead...test yourself. Once you complete the cartridge, you will be given the coordinates to the final location of this geocache. Once successful in finding the container, you will be able to log this Wherigo geocache.

Is logging my result any different for this cache?
Logging your results here on geocaching.com is no different than any other cache so no changes there. However, you get a new icon on your profile page if you don't already have one. Unlocking the cartridge on Wherigo.com is not required, but it would be greatly appreciated if you reviewed the cartridge by choosing "Write a Log" on the Wherigo website.

Logging requirements:
Once you successfully complete the cartridge and find the geocache, write a log entailing your adventures by revisiting the cache page.

Thanks for playing our 4th Wherigo cache!
