If you do not use the tools provided, then you have not completed the challenge successfully and by honor, you should not log this cache as found.
Unlike the other Monkey See Monkey Do caches, this one is NOT at the listed location.
ABOUT THIS SERIES: Monkey's use of tools show how similar humans and animals are in terms of problem solving skills and intelligence. Some Monkeys See other monkeys use tools and then those Monkeys Do the same thing (Monkey See Monkey Do). Monkey See Monkey Do is a series of caches in which you'll have to think like a monkey and figure out how to retrieve each cache by finding an object in the area that you can use as a tool or solution to retrieve the cache log. You are not required to bring a tool or create a tool as one is provided somewhere in the area, so please look for the solution as you look for the cache. But knowing where the cache is will help you figure out what kind of a solution to use.
This caches are rated due to the challenge for the cache hunter to use problem solving skills and intelligence to find. Some experienced cachers may consider this series a one-star difficulty rating.
If you like logic puzzles then these caches are for you. If you are easily frustrated at your inability to solve logic problems, then it's best you skip this series rather than damage the cache and surrounding area.
ABOUT THIS CACHE:
Have you heard the story of the cacher who couldn't solve a puzzle cache but overheard at an event that it was located in a specific park? The cacher thought about it and decided the location could be narrowed to a small enough area due to the park boundaries and the location of all the other caches in that particular park.
So off the cacher went and looked around and under every rhododendron, fern, evergreen, Scotch broom, rock, log and blackberry bush and sure enough, found the cache.
When I heard of the ingenious method used to "solve" the puzzle, I thought that should be a challenge for everyone . . . and now it is.
THE SOLUTION TO THIS CHALLENGE PUZZLE IS TO USE THE TOOLS PROVIDED!
If you do not use the tools provided, then you have not completed the challenge successfully and by honor, you should not log this cache as found.
The cache is Not at the above coordinates. The challenge is to find the only location left in China Lake Park that is far enough from all the other caches already in the park using these guidelines:
- Located in China Lake Park
- Eliminate area with element to a puzzle cache (please do not name this cache in your log)
- Not outside the fence
- North of the parking lot / South of S 13th Street
- "Easy" to spot, but not necessarily from a trail.
It should be fairly intuitive how to retrieve the cache but Do Not Force the tool--Slightly Jiggling or trying more than once is okay. Forcing the tool in the incorrect manner will just damage the cache and take away the enjoyment for others.
INSTRUCTIONS: To open the cache, find "key"(tool). Insert "key" into "keyhole." Once the cache opens, DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY. When you have signed the log, close the cache and hold it closed and then remove the key. If you remove the key while the cache is open the cache will not close. Putting the key back into the keyhole will no longer work. You'll need to put your hand into the cache and push on the "latch" and then insert the key. Remove your hand, close the cache and then remove the key.
Please replace the tool into it's hiding spot, as far as possible.
For this MSMD, the tool and cache are together.
Did I mention the solution to this challenge is to use the tools provided?
