With the closure of Fort Ord in September 1994, this area was left abandoned. However, new construction and creative reuse of the old provide glimmers of hope and renewal.
The MPC Marina Education Center is one of several new complexes built in this area. Like many collegiate institutions, its grounds include a courtyard and a tower. However, this tower does double duty as a wind turbine generating power for the new campus, as well as a work of art. Check out its "plug."
The cache is a silver nano containing a log. Please bring your own pen.
