Le Moulin de la Galette est en réalité constitué de deux moulins : le « Blute-fin » et le « Radet ». Le nom de « Moulin de la Galette » est mentionné pour la première fois en 1622 sous le nom de « Moulin du palais ».
Il ne servait pas uniquement à moudre le blé : il était utilisé pour presser les vendanges ou concasser les matériaux nécessaires aux manufactures.
C’est surtout à la fin du XIXè siècle que le domaine devint populaire en accueillant un bal populaire que Renoir immortalisa à jamais en 1876.
Le Moulin de la Galette is established in reality by two mills: " le Blute-fin " and "Le Radet". The name of " mill of the pancake " is mentioned for the first time in 1622 under the name of " Le Moulin du palais ".
He did not only serve to grind the wheat: he was used to press the grape harvests or crush materials necessary for factories.
It is especially at the end of the XIXè century that the domain became popular by welcoming a local dance which Renoir immortalized for ever in 1876.
