A pretty park overlooking the entrance to the small boat harbor of Hilo
The plaque at the entrance to the park reads:
"This garden park is dedicated to all senior citizens of the Island of Hawaii.
With its tropical theme, the garden provides a setting for the senior citizens to congregate and enjoy fellowship and to share and display their skills and products."
The original purpose seems to have been lost and no senior citizens share or display skills or products, but it is still a nice place to sit and watch the boats going in and out. An occasional glimpse of a mullet jumping or a manta or honu swimming by makes the visit all the more worthwhile.
Although the park has lighting and is in a fairly busy area, a night visit may not be a great idea .
