Geocache Description:

An easy drive by multi, giving a Snapshot of local businesses and attractions.

Most people associate Aratiatia with just the rapids, but there is more to the area than that.
This Multi is designed to give a snapshot of some of the contributors to the local economy. These contributors include farming, education, electrical generation, forestry, the film industry, sports and recreation, and tourism.
The published co-ordinates take you to Aratiatia station, representing farming and education (visit link) the tag there leads you to a sports and recreation site, then onto a power generation site. The co-ordinates will then take you to a forest, near a site used for the picnic scene during the making of the film Yogi Bear. You can park at the gate of the picnic scene site.
The cache is a 1 litre camo-ed systema container, containing a log book and some trade goodies.
Please park off the road. This area appears to be rural, but as there is quite a bit of heavy industry in the area, (two geothermal power stations) and the roads can carry some really heavy vehicles.
The area is adjacent to the Waikato river, and with the possibility of heavy traffic, it is important to keep a good watch on children.

There is no need to climb any fences, or to open any gates to complete this Multi.
