Battleships are named after States. Several states have had more than one hull to host their names.
There have been two Battle Ships named the USS Texas. The Battleship USS Texas that sailed from August 15, 1895 to February 1, 1911 is considered the US Navy’s first Battleship.
The USS Texas BB35 sailed from March 12, 1914 until April 21, 1948. The ship was turned over to the state of Texas to serve as permanent memorial at the San Jacinto State Park in 1948.
