Geocache Description:

Welcome to St. Marys Cemetery.

In 1857, Michael Young sold property to Amadaeus Rappe for the purpose of building this cemetery. In 1872, the property was transferred and the deed mentions that part of the property was next to “the old burying ground” so at some point land was acquired for the cemetery but those records cannot be found. In 1887, 1 ½ acres were purchased from Henry Hoffman.

The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens.
