This is the second of six caches that we hid along the Humbug Trail. The cache is a quart size plastic container with a lid that screws on and is wrapped in camouflage tape.
The Humbug trail starts at the North Bloomfield Road at the west end of Malakoff Diggins State Historical Park and goes down to the South Yuba River. This is a beautiful trail to hike. The sign at the trailhead may be a little deceiving. According the tracker on our GPS it is almost 2 miles to the falls and about 3.7 miles to the South Yuba, but it is well worth the hike.
Don’t forget to pay the day use fees for the State Park. While you are there take time to visit the museum and the historic town of North Bloomfield that are part of Malakoff Diggins State Historical Park and learn more about the history of the area.
