in our disclaimer.
The District of Sechelt has been constructing trails along beach
access road allowances to the ocean making them more readily
available to the general public. This access has been open for
quite some time but isn’t that well used because only a few
people live in that neighbourhood. The trail starts out pretty easy
but it becomes progressively more difficult due to its steepness,
hence the name Cardiac Beach.
This is Beach Access #1 and it, and all the rest of Sechelt’s
beach accesses, can be viewed on a brochure available at:
http://www.sechelt.ca/Portals/0/Public%20Document%20Library/General%20Information/Beach%20Access%20Brochure.pdf
This brochure is also available in printed format at the District
of Sechelt office above the Sechelt Library on Cowrie Street.
The Trail Head.
You will note on the sign at the trail head that it refers to North
West Bay. The original name of the bay was Norwest Bay and of
course it is now known as Sargents Bay, named after the first
settler in the Bay, Mr. F. Sargent. Norwest Bay Road in West
Sechelt was on part of the original trail to Norwest Bay and some
of the old timers in these parts still refer to the Bay as Norwest
Bay. Mr. Sargent pre-empted District Lot 1324 after it was surveyed
by John Strathern, PLS, in May 1891.
The container is a smallish regular size one and is hidden out of
sight. Please ensure that it is well hidden when you replace it as
there is a small side trail that it might be visible from. Due to
the heavy tree cover, your GPSr may bounce around a bit.
