You are looking for a camouflaged bison tube with only a log. BYOP. Tweezers may be helpful. Please hide this as well or better than you found it. Take a second to read about some of the important animal and plant species in our area!
The Gulf Coastal Plain is an ecologically rich area once primarily inhabited by Longleaf pine forests, large habitats of freshwater wetlands, salt marshes, and coastal mangrove swamps. The flat to rolling topography is broken by many streams, river riparian areas, and marsh wetlands.
There are several species that are considered "keystone" species in that they help encourage ecological richness by providing habitat and shelter for many other species through their specialized characteristics, behaviors or activities.
The cornerstone for a healthy ecosystem in our area is the Longleaf Pine. These pine are fire resistant and are unique in their ability to support other keystone species like the Mississippi Gofer Tortoise and the Red Cockated Woodpecker. The Mississippi Gofer Tortoise, a threatened species, digs underground burrows among the roots of the Longleaf pines that provides a home for over 300 other vertebrate and invertebrate species. The Red Cockated Woodpecker is the only bird to make its home in heartwood of living pine trees and can only use old longleaf pines to make it in. Because the longleaf pines are so long lived that nesting site goes on to provide a home for many other species.
