Stop the car and spot the wooden fort overlooking the entrance to the Bogey Man's domain. Pass through the metal security gate, and walk between the unfinished river troll house on your right and the hobbit house on your left.
Go through the tunnel of Dryads, and then squeeze past the moving fences without being squashed.
Brave this one if you dare, then log your exploits.
Step carefully on the bridge that spans the shark infested leaf swamp and watch out for the mines buried in the path beyond.
Go quietly over the next bridge to avoid disturbing the miniature trolls underneath, and tiptoe carefully past the Tarzan vines, where the trolls sometimes play.
Stay alert because on your left, just before the third bridge, is a spot where the bogey man often appears, disguised as a giant tree.
Go carefully over that last bridge and its death-defying 2 inch deep chasm. Now steel yourself for the next bit.
There is a bunch of crazy paving under foot and if you step on the wrong one it might activate the rolling boulder. Take care too at the tangled roots. One of these could activate the giant swinging circular saw blade.
There is a wooden altar on your right, where you can gather your strength if you need to. But beware, travellers have been known to go missing from here. Look out for human bones among the remaining stones of a hangi pit further up the path.
If you have not yet turned back, you will soon come to the most dangerous bit of all. The path narrows and there are steep cliffs to the right. Tread carefully; you don’t want to lose anyone into the raging river below.
From here, go past the graveyard of scattered stones and you are almost there.
One more dangerous cliff path and there he lies, the Bogey Man. Pay your respects and don’t disturb his resting place. You don’t want his ghost to get you on the way out.
When hidden the cache contained various protective devices for your return trip: Bogey Man repellant spray, a guardian angel, a lucky key ring, a magic protection stag, and two TBs.
Please do not post photos of the GZ and do cover the cache well.
This is one of the most dangerous caches in the region. Or it could just be a nice gentle bush walk. You decide.
Note; the track continues beyond the cache and to the top of the Stokes Valley hills. It is a narrow and steep goat track and a challenge. It is not really suitable for families.
Congratulations Boxhill. First to find under very difficult conditions.....
