Geocache Description:

This cache honors the efforts of the World War II Airborne Demonstration Team as it works to keep alive the memory and the heroics of WWII paratroopers.

Housed in a vintage World War II-era hangar that you can easily see from GZ, the team conducts parachute demonstration jumps from original C-47 aircraft wearing period-authentic uniforms. The hangar is located at Frederick Municipal Airport -- originally the Frederick Army Airfield, which served as home base for soldiers taking advanced twin-engine pilot training from 1942-45. These days, NATO pilots from Sheppard AFB in Texas use the airport for training.

The team performs demonstration jumps at air shows, veterans' reunions and ceremonies around the globe to honor U.S. military personnel from all branches and keep World War II history alive for future generations.

The WWII ADT holds jump schools twice each year (January and July). For a week, history buffs can live and train in an authentic WWII setting. The school culminates with a parachute jump out of "Boogie Baby," the ADT's C-47. Those interested in enrolling in the school can contact the Frederick Chamber of Commerce for details.
