Ammo box in the greenway.
The cache has been placed in the neighborhood greenway on behalf of an area Girl Scout as part of earning her GSA Gold Award. This award is the highest award offered in Girl Scouting. The emphasis of her project is environmental conservation. She supervised the planting of Eastern Hemlock Trees along the creek and trail. Park on the shoulder. The trail starts at the intersection. Please take a copy of the pamphlet to read more about conservation and the benefits of Eastern Hemlock Trees to environmental ecology. If the pamphlets are running low or there are no more, please drop me a note and I will replenish. You can take a short hike along the greenway trail, past the pond and bridge, and see if you can spot the new trees. The cache has been muggled a few times. I just replaced it with a new box and had to move it a little because of some landscaping along the trail. Coordinates are updated, the log is new. It is hard to see, but you can see it from one angle just off of the trail. Bring a stick or golf club to help poke around when you're looking. The new cache this time contained: Eastern Hemlock Tree pamphlets, a key chain calculator, a star ring, a pack of earplugs, a duck, a turtle Silly Bandz, a magnifying glass Silly Bandz, a toy compass, a mini yo-yo, 4 Mecklenburg Council Friends of Scouting shoulder patches, 3 miscellaneous BSA patches, 2 Friends of Scouting Coins, a Happy Meal Train Your Dragon toy, a vinyl wrist band, a spine, an ant, a Dalmatian, a green army man, a lizard, a dinosaur, a yellow Samurai, a yellow bunny, a mini bubble bottle, and the Where's the Remote travel bug.
