Geocache Description:

Please join us for our 4th Annual Geocaching Seminar on Saturday March 17th 9:00 am - 12 noon at Independent Bible Church (IBC) just 2 miles west of I-81 in Martinsburg. Come meet some of your fellow cachers and participate in sessions led by some of our area's most experienced cachers. This is a great opportunity to bring some of your friends and neighbors who may have an interest in getting started.

We try to have something for every level of geocacher, from the beginner to the experienced cacher.

Four caches currently exist at IBC, "Come as you Are" , "Ebenzer Rock", "A Hoppin Church", "Ant House" and a fifth new cache will be posted on the church property the day of the event.

Doors open at 8:30 am. PLEASE COME EARLY and enjoy some free coffee and donuts provided by our host Independent Bible Church. There will be no childcare provided, but children are welcome to attend sessions with you.

We will OPEN WITH A PANEL DISCUSSION using some of our seminar speakers and experienced cachers. This lively discussion will give you a chance to ask questions of some our our most experienced cachers.

First Breakout session

1. Geocaching 101 - How to get started
2. Geocaching Software - GSAK explored - Rufnredy

Second Breakout Session

1. Geocaching Adventures - hear a report about a geocaching adventure that many of our local caches took last fall.
2. Beginners - more tips and tricks

Following the 2nd session we will we will take new cachers or begineers, geocaching around the 35 acre property. This is designed to give the new cachers some practical experience. If you like to act as a tour guide for a small group, please let me know, volunteers are needed.

Please bring those friends and neighbors wanting to know what caching is all about. We hope to have some visitors who want to understand the hobby we all enjoy. Some of our new cachers introduced to caching at this seminar in the last couple years now have hundreds of finds and are placing geocaches. I have been teaching the Geocaching Merit Badge for the last several months. I expect we'll see some of my new students joining this meeting to pick up some tips.

Be sure to let us know if you're coming and how many you'll be bringing so we'll know how many donuts to pickup.

A display of geocoins will be on hand, so bring your TB's and geocoins to show off or pass on. We will have a geocoin table where geocoins and TB's can be checked in and out safely.

Examples of geocaching paraphernalia, including GPS's, smart phones with geocaching ability, future geocaches, geopacks and more will be available for the new cacher to examine. Everyone, please bring any show and tell items.
