The ruins of Laimburg Castle
Im 13. Jahrhundert von den Herren von Laimburg als Ansitz erbaut, diente die stolze Burg kurzzeitig als Gerichtssitz von Kaltern, verfiel dann bis ins 17. Jh. zur Ruine. Die Laimburg nahe dem Kalterer See ist heute Namensgeberin und Wahrzeichen für das darunterliegende Landesweingut Laimburg und seine Weinkellerei am Fuße des Mitterberges in der Gemeinde Pfatten. Im Jahre 2002 wurde die gesamte Burganlage der Laimburg vollständig renoviert.

Edificato nel 13° secolo dai signori di Laimburg, che lo elessero a propria residenza, il maniero servì per breve tempo come sede del Tribunale di Caldaro e cadde in rovina già nel corso del 17° secolo. Dalle rovine di Laimburg, che sorgono maestose nei pressi del Lago di Caldaro, traggono il proprio nome e l’emblema sia il podere che si estende nei pressi del castello, sia la Cantina Vini ai piedi del Monte di Mezzo nel Comune di Vadena. Nel 2002 l’intera struttura del castello è stata sottoposta ad una completa ristrutturazione.

In the 13th Century, the Lords of Laimburg uilt the proud castle, which served briefly as the high court of Caldaro, but by the 17th Century had fallen into ruin. The castle, not far from Lake Caldaro, lends both its name and its image to the Province Winery, which is located just outside the village of Vadena. The ruins underwent thorough restoration in 2002.
