Geocache Description:

This should be a quick little cache. This was placed to add another cache to the area, but also to mark where a spent my childhood years.

The house on the property where this cache is hidden dates back to the 1880's. It was one of the first homes built in this area. It predates the town of Granite itself by over two years.

The original structure has been added to and rebuilt over the years many times. Only one wall remains and that is hidden with the modern walls of the house.

The abstract for the property noted the location of the one-room house first built here as being "about 100 feet from a large Mesquite tree."

That tree still stands over 125 years later. I spent many a day climbing in this old fellow. If measured below the split in the trunk it would be the largest Mesquite tree in the state.

*** NOTE: This cache is on private property with the owner's knowledge and consent. You don't need to enter the fence or the carport to retrieve the cache. ***

Congratulation to 2Moore on the FTF.
