Brock Barrow's biggest
claim to fame is probably being included in Wainwright's Outlying
Fells in the Top o' Selside chapter as a nameless
summit 748'
Now it has it's own
name and appears to have grown to 751' over the intervening years
but it still gives a great view down the length of Coniston Water
to the Coniston Fells for very little effort.
A short round can be
made by adding Arnsbarrow Hill and Top o' Selside to the mix along
with Low Light Haw and High Light Haw, these paths being quite
unfrequented (I only saw one man and his dog all day when I placed
the cache, on what must be the best day of the year so far!) but it
can get a bit boggy in places and bracken can be a problem in
summer.
A small car park can
be found about 3/4 mile North of High Nibthwaite allowing a
clockwise or anti clockwise circuit - or even a quick there and
back if you must, but it deserves more than that!
