The event will be held in Lake Manatee State Park in Bradenton, Florida. Admission to the park is $5.00 per vehicle with 2 to 8 people, $4.00 for single occupant vehicles and $2.00 for Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.
We are celebrating our 2nd year of geocaching and could not think of a better way or better people to celebrate with. Please join us for a day of fun, caching and eating.
We are holding this event in conjunction with the Lake Manatee State Park manager, Manny Perez. Manny is hoping to attract some novice cachers to the park. If you feel like helping a novice, please do so.
If you plan to attend please post a “Will Attend” log along with the number of guests that will be coming with you and what side dish you intend to bring.
There will be 30 new loggable caches in the park. A list of the new caches will be given out after a short presentation by Cache_U_Nuts and the park manager. The new caches will not be published online until Sunday the 15th or Monday the 16th. So please hang on to your printed list so that you can log your finds. The cache listings will not be published ahead of time because we want everyone to have an equal opportunity for a FTF.
There are currently seven caches in the park and a lot more in the surrounding area. If you want to spend a few days in the park, camping is available for $22.00 per night. If you need any further information about the park click on the Related Web Page near the top of this page.
We will be providing all beef hot dogs, hot dog buns, condiments, plastic ware, paper plates and napkins. You guys bring the side dishes. Be sure to bring your own ice and drinks. (no alcohol)
Donations of raffle prizes will gladly be accepted and greatly appreciated.
The tentative schedule is:
Registration: 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Geocaching/Park Presentation: 9:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. (Cache_U_Nuts and Manny Perez)
Geocaching: 9:45 a.m. – 12 noon (a list of caches with coordinates will be given out after Geocaching/Park Presentation)
Lunch: 12 noon
Raffle: 1 p.m. (you must be present during the drawing to claim your prize)
Geocaching: after raffle until sundown
Please obey all State Park rules. Please stay on trails until you get near the posted coordinates for the caches. Please don't bushwhack from trail to trail.
