Geocache Description:

Part of the Lehigh Valley Geocachers GeoPark

Lehigh Valley Geocachers GeoPark

Join our Super Saturday Celebration as we officially open the new Lehigh Valley Geocachers GeoPark, February 4 at 9am.

WHAT IS A GEOPARK?
Several members of Lehigh Valley Geocachers volunteered to hide interesting and unusual caches in a small, concentrated area. We call this zone a “GeoPark.”

SPECIAL FEATURE: One Busy Day

The GeoPark showcases several different types of caches, including: Letterbox, Multi-cache, Wherigo, Earthcache, and others. If you plan your visit just right, you may fulfill the requirements of a “One Busy Day” cache--finding 6 different types of caches in 1 Day. Those attending our GeoPark opening qualify for an Event Cache, one of the six cache types. (Only five more caches to go!)

Here's a Bookmark List

Our opening event won’t last long: Sign the log, introductions of the CO’s, take a picture or two, and we’re done. But you can visit and make new geo-friends, as there will also be coffee, juice, and donuts to enjoy. So reserve Super Saturday, February 4, and join the opening celebration of the new Lehigh Valley Geocachers GeoPark, located in the Hugh Moore Park near Easton, PA.

DATE: Saturday, February 4
TIME: 9am, sharp
LOCATION: Hugh Moore Park, Easton, PA (at an outdoor pavilion)

This is an outdoor event. Please dress appropriately!

Directions from Rt 22

The GeoPark is on an island and following your GPS here may have you driving in circles. Follow these directions as your best bet:

  • Take the 25th Street exit off of Route 22. From 22 West make a LEFT at the end of the ramp onto 25th Street. From 22 East make a RIGHT onto 25th Street.
  • Continue down 25th Street past Easton High School and Giant (both on your left) and through a couple of lights. The road will then begin to get curvy.
  • When it straightens out look for a small sign that says "Hugh Moore Park / CANAL BOAT" on your RIGHT before the bridge that crosses the Lehigh River. Make that RIGHT.
  • Keep following signs. The road will take you downhill and curve to the left. Do NOT enter the 1st park you see. Instead, keep left and follow it under the bridge.
  • When you approach an intersection at another bridge (to your right), make a RIGHT onto the bridge. There is a sign that will say "Hugh Moore Park". This is a one-way bridge.
  • Drive slowly and make your first RIGHT off of the bridge into Hugh Moore Park. This is the West side of the park and has the Main parking lot.
  • Keep driving until you see the pavillion right in front of you and park in this main lot.
PLEASE NOTE:

Dogs are not allowed on the west side of the park (where the event is being held). The east side does allow dogs though.

What do I need to bring?

For the Earthcache, a tape measure and a strong magnet.
For the Letterbox, bring your stamp and letterboxing stamp pad (not required as you can just sign the log, but bring them if you have them).
For one of the Puzzle caches, solve the puzzle to get the correct coords and check them using the geochecker link.
For the Wherigo(s), download the cartridges, and an app if you have a smartphone or use a Garmin Colorado or Oregon, or make a friend at the event.
Strategically, you will want to team up with a group and work on a specific Wherigo as your first cache. You'll see why on Saturday. Just got word from OReviewer that he will be able to publish the caches on Friday night to allow everyone to prepare and to load your GPSrs.

You will need to find 6 different cache types in one day to log the One Busy Day cache. You WILL be able to do this at the GeoPark as there will be 6 cache types published (Unknown/Mystery, Traditional, Multi, Wherigo, Earthcache, and Letterbox), plus all attendees will get a 7th cache (Event).

But I want to get 8 different caches on Saturday. What can I do?
