Geocache Description:

GREEN IS FOR THE RIVER CART BRIDGE - This cache is part of a multi cache. In order to find the bonus cache you will have to have found all the other colours of the Rainbow. At the top of the log is a number, use this number to work out the final location of the bonus cache. Please bring a pen.

This road is extremely busy, please use the crossing available and use stealth. This cache overlooks where Ninawiski's Old Mill cache was. Please replace exactly as found and be careful not to drop it.

From GZ you get an excellent view of the Mill, Abbey and Town Hall.

An description of the Abbey can be found in our Paisley Abbey cache page GC4KN09. The Town Hall was funded by the Clarks (owners of the Anchor Mills) in the early 1870s. George Clark left £20k in his will to fund the building of a Hall in his native town. The terms of the will instructed that the chosen site had to be in the 'new town', east of the river and near his Mill. The Hall opened in 1882. The taller of the 2 towers has sculptured figures that represent the four seasons and houses a clock and chime of bells which, at the time, could play a different tune for every day of the month. The chiming mechanism was restored in 1990 just after the Paisley 500 celebrations.

The ‘Anchor Mills’ began at either side of the river next to the Hammils, a band of hard volcanic rock that runs across the river bed forming a waterfall. The force of the water flowing over the Hammils powered the two Mills.

This cache is wheelchair accessible.

To get to the red cache, walk towards the Mill building on the east bank, through the blue gates at the gate house then past the Mill.
