Geocache Description:

Reaching this cache will be a quick stroll from either the trail head at Wakefield Street or the parking lot at Hanson Pines Recreation Area. You're looking for a camouflaged micro in a common container. No trades, please. Use cover to camouflage and protect the cache.

With enough snow, the cache may not be winter-friendly.

This is a high-muggle area year-round but more so during the school year, or on hot summer days with kids flocking to the public pool. Be discrete.

From Wikipedia:

"The Cocheco Railroad was chartered in 1847 and opened in 1849, running from the B&M in Dover to Alton Bay, New Hampshire. It was reorganized in 1863 as the Dover and Winnipiseogee (modern spelling Winnipesaukee) Railroad and leased to the B&M. When the B&M leased the Concord and Montreal Railroad in 1895, it acquired the Lake Shore Railroad, a continuation past Alton Bay to the old Boston, Concord and Montreal Railroad mainline at Lakeport."

Manufacturing kept the Lakeport branch operating as far west as Farmington until circa 1990. When the factories closed, or ceased to ship by rail the B&M (owned then by Guilford Industries) petitioned for abandonment.

Watch for snowmobiles during peak season.

They're not permitted on the trail, but be mindful of ATVs which stubbornly frequent the path. If you see violators, call NH Fish & Game Department.

Congratulations to rjb43nh for being FTF.
