This cache is dedicated to the NJ Forest Fire Service. I thank you for your hard work and dedication protecting our forest and homes.
In July of 2011 lightning struck this area and ignited a Pine Barrens forest fire. Local NJ Forest Fire Service quickly cut an access trail to the area, surrounded it, and put it out. The cache is located on the exact tree that investigators concluded was the one that the lightning bolt struck. A thick scar runs across the trunk of this tree. The NJ Forest Fire Service has been in service since 1905. Remember to make sure you have what it takes...100'
