The Moccasin Trail on beautiful Cowanesque Lake begins at the Tompkins Campground on the north shore and winds along the edge of the lake through an undulating terrain of reclaimed farm fields and wood lots for 4 miles before reaching route 49 on the south shore. It is open to hikers and bikers and, in season, hunters.
This multicache introduces you to a small section of the Trail near the Campgrounds. It has four stages and each stage contains a logbook for you to sign as well as coordinates for the next stage. You can log the cache four times on geocaching.com, once for each logbook that you sign. Please begin your log with the stage number that you're claiming a find for. Of course, we hope you'll find all four stages and enjoy the hike, the views, and the hides.
Since only campers may park in the campground from May 15th to September 30th, during that time (if you aren't camping) you'll need to park at N41 58.862 W077 11.336 and pick up the trail at N41 58.832 W077 11.449.
From October 1st to May 14th, assuming the snow on the unplowed road isn't too deep, you may park at N41 58.737 W077 11.500 and pick up the trail near the given coordinates.
