Novel Cache: Ape House Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mario McTavish: I came out today to check on these novel caches. Unfortunately most are well past their best.

In some cases the 'novel' aspect of the cache was missing completely meaning that there was no theme to the container. Odd that the theme would disappear but the container remain...

In light of the missing themes and general 'tiredness' of the caches I've decided to archive them.

Thanks to all the finders over the years.

Geocache Description:

A micro container with a hitch-hiker. Please bring your own pen.

This is dedicated to the novel Ape House by Sara Gruen. The two main human characters are Isabel Duncan, the research scientist involved with work on language and communiction between humans and the apes, and John Thigpen, a struggling reporter, who happened to have been doing a piece on the apes the day before their building is blown up by an animal welfare organisation. The most fascinating characters though, are the apes themselves who had learned to communicate using ASL (American Sign Language) and could understand, if not vocalise, spoken English.

This is one of the Novel Cache series where we have tried to match the cache container or hitch-hiker to the title of a book, sometimes a bit of lateral thinking is required to spot the connection!

We hope you have as much fun finding them as we did when we laid them! Most of the log containers are micro buffalo types but there are a few that are big enough for some small swaps.
