Jardim do Tabaco

The introduction of tobacco consumption habits of the Portuguese gives rise, in 1672, by the Board of Directors of Tobacco. In the following century, the Customs Lisbon held a variety of homes tax: Customs Large, House of Five, Sugar Customs, Customs Tobacco, Dry Doors, Mesa do Sol, Paço da Madeira, Three Houses, House of India, and Mina Guinea, Warehouse Wine, Fish, Fruit and Meat. Following the Tobacco Dock Garden and also near the Fountain of Inside and Customs existed Lingueta Wharf, that it still preserves the name on toponymy, specifically a small street between the Jardim do Tabaco Street and Infante Dom Henrique Avenue.

Currently, this place is the dock of the port of Lisbon, and is stop for large cruise ships visiting this beautiful city.
Soon will be built new buildings for a modern operation of the port.
