Geocache Description:

Another one in the Beecroft Penninsula series of great views and fishing spots.

The legendary outer torpedo tubes. Installed during the second world war to protect Jervis Bay from enemy ships they are located so as not to be bombed from the sea and cover the entrance to the bay.
These days and since the late 1960s they are the meca of land based gamefishing.
The water at the rocks drops from over 10 metres deep at your feet to over 40 metres just 20 metres from the platform.
During the peak season of December through to May some guys stay here for weeks on end the place is packed with makeshift sleeping quarters on the rocks, swimming pools for live bait, game outfits and anglers all chasing that elusive marlin from the stones.
Over the years some sensational captures have taken place with marlin to 180 kilos caught and sometimes over 10 fish in one day are landed.
Other fish are yellowfing tuna, bluefin tuna, massive yellowtail kingfish, mackerel tuna, bonito, salmon and heaps of big sharks of all species.
So come and have a look, go down the stairs and check out the set up. In winter the place will be virtually deserted.
There is a road in now so it is an easy walk with some sensational views. Not the narrow goat track I used to shimmy down through the scrub in the dark 30 years ago, these guys are spoilt.
As always on Beecroft be careful of cliffs although the cashe is located more than 10 metres from any drops, but be careful.
