Wzgórze polskie jest sztucznym wzniesieniem przykrywajacym
pozostalosci po Bastionie Ceglarskim.
Reszta Bastionu Ceglarskiego zbudowanego w 1585 r. jako czesc
fortyfikacji miasta. Po likwidacji umocnien, po 1807 r., wzgórze ze
wzgledów na wybitne walory widokowe wlaczone zostalo do Promenady
Staromiejskiej, a znajdujace sie w nim 3-kondygnacyjne kazamaty
zamieniono na sklady. Obecna nazwa pochodzi od przebiegajacej tam
przed laty ul. Polskiej. W czasie oblezenia Wroclawia w 1945 r. w
kazamatach urzadzono lazaret polowy, a u podnóza grzebano
zmarlych.
